New Year Calls For Comfort

Posted on 08 January 2024

Now, if you are anything like me, your would have over eaten, over drunk and under-slept all of Christmas so come back in January ready for a re-set!
Whilst, I'm back at the gym, focussing on eating well, meditating, goal setting etc etc. you know the drill, I don't also have time to re-invent how I dress. On this side of things, I like to keep it simple. It is of course, important to still feel good in what you're wearing but for me, comfort is key in January. I certainly don't feel like wearing anything too tight and need looks that require minimal effort to put together. So whilst I've been working out my January staples, I have pulled together some looks to share with you which are comfortable, chic and you can easily transition from day to night without having to change your whole outfit!

Look 1

Day -> Night

Look 1, day to night outfit inspiration with the Dida Ritchie black leather clutch bag

Style Notes: Now, you might think I can't wear trackies out of the house, let alone out in the evening, but here you go, permission granted! And if you dress them right, people won't even notice you're wearing trackies at all. The key to wearing tracksuit style trousers is to make sure they are a wide leg so they look more like a palazzo trouser and then I like to wear black or a neutral colour to not draw too much attention to them. The side strip on this pair is great, it adds a bit of interest but doesn't steal the show.To go from day to night in this look, as you can see there are some very minimal swaps/additions but they make all the difference. Swap the trainers for some pointed heels, pull up the sleeves of the polo to show a bit of forearm and accessorise. With this look chunky jewellery works so well as statement pieces to add some glam and I would take the chain off the bag and use it just as a clutch to keep it simple.

Look 2

Day -> Night

Look 2 day to night looks with the Dida Ritchie India clutch bag in cream leather

 Style Notes: A wrap coat is a wardrobe essential every woman needs in their wardrobe and I have been lusting after this Aligne one for a while now. I love how it is Navy as it is still very smart but looks great with a pair of jeans and trainers too. There is a temptation to always go for dark colours in winter but I think the creams work so and especially with navy's or greens as it is not such a contrast as black and cream can be. To change up this look, for the evening I would simply swap the jumper for a pretty blouse, and I love how the top and accessories all tie in together and the jeans are smartened up by both the blouse and shoes.

Look 3

Day -> Night

Look 3 day to night with the Dida Ritchie Cara Clutch Bag in Olive Green Suede

Style Notes: Sometimes, smart doesn't mean you have to ditch the trainers! As the looks above, it is simple changes that just elevate an outfit from day to night. As you can see, you can swap the cardigan for an evening top and then again, with this look I would use accessories to add some interest. With the neckline of this top, I would avoid a necklace and instead wear a fun pair of earrings. I would also remove the cross body chain from the Cara Clutch and instead attach our wrist strap which doubles as a bracelet.
